Baseboard Repair in Houston, TX
Baseboard repair replaces the baseboards, trim, and molding that water has swollen or warped along the bottom of your walls. Baseboards sit right where water pools, so they are often among the first things damaged. We replace and refinish baseboards in Houston homes and businesses to match your existing trim.

What is baseboard and trim repair?
Baseboard and trim repair replaces the molding along the bottom of your walls after water has damaged it. Baseboards, along with door and window trim near the floor, are finish carpentry that hides the joint between the wall and the floor.
Because that joint sits at the lowest point of the wall, it is right in the path of any water on the floor. Repair means removing the swollen or warped trim, checking what is behind it, and installing new baseboards that match the room.
Why are baseboards damaged first?
Baseboards are often damaged first because of where they sit and what they are made of. Water on the floor pools against the base of the wall, exactly where the baseboard is.
Many baseboards are made of MDF, a pressed fiber material that acts like a sponge. It swells, bubbles, and crumbles along the bottom edge soon after it gets wet. Even a small amount of standing water can leave a whole run of baseboards visibly damaged.
Can water-damaged baseboards be saved?
Whether baseboards can be saved depends mostly on what they are made of. The material makes the difference between drying and replacing.
- MDF trim rarely survives, because it swells and breaks down and does not return to shape.
- Solid wood trim can sometimes be saved if it dried quickly and did not warp or split.
Because so much modern trim is MDF, water-damaged baseboards are usually replaced rather than repaired. We check the material and condition and tell you what is realistic.
How are baseboards repaired?
Baseboards are repaired by removing the damaged trim, dealing with any moisture behind it, and installing new molding.
- Remove the damaged trim. Swollen or warped baseboards are pulled off the wall.
- Check behind. The bottom of the wall and edge of the floor are checked for trapped moisture.
- Install new baseboards. New trim is cut and fitted to match the room.
- Caulk and finish. Seams are caulked, and the trim is primed and painted.
Matching trim profile and finish
Matching the trim is what makes new baseboards look like they belong. Baseboards come in many heights and profiles, and a mismatch stands out along the floor line.
We match the profile, height, and paint finish of your existing trim as closely as possible so the repaired run blends in. Older homes sometimes have custom or discontinued profiles, which may need to be specially sourced or milled, and we will point that out before starting.
